Moody and Smith Digital (Pty) Ltd. is a leading digital marketing agency specializing in providing high quality solutions to B2C clients.  As part of our youth skills development initiative, we have made available various on-the-job internship opportunities for final year students or graduates in the following fields:

Project Details

We are currently working on projects where we would like to offer a few students the opportunity to work on these projects and put the above skills to use.

Project 1: Content Research and Conceptualization

Scope     – To research and conceptualise top-ranking content on any form and platform of media.

Duration – 6 Months

Scope     – To carry out duties of a high-growth Facebook Ad buyer

Scope     – To assemble recorded footage into a finished project that matches programme managers objective and is suitable for broadcasting

Duration – 6 Months

Project 4: YouTube Video Editing Support

Scope     – To provide support in assembling recorded footage into a finished project that matches programme managers objective and is suitable for broadcasting

Duration – 6 Months

Project 5: YouTube Graphic Design

Scope     – To provide added support to video editing team through creating captivating thumbnails and artwork for various projects that will be suitable for a YouTube Channel.

Duration – 6 Months

Project 6: YouTube Search Engine Optimization

Scope     – To provide daily post-SEO work on all content. Keyword research, mining and updates

Duration – 6 Months

Project 7: Social Media Community Management

Scope     – To communicate with social media communities with the objective to build super fans of specific brands

Duration – 6 Months

Student Requirements:

Internship opportunities are offered to candidates who meet the following requirements:

 Final Year students or Graduates

  1. Must have own laptop
  2. Willing to sign NDA. Non-Disclosure Agreement

Intern Incentives:

Candidates selected for this internship will receive the following:

  • R3000 stipend
  • Accumulated In-service hours (Minimum of 50 hours on a project)
  • Signed Certificate from Moody and Smith Digital (Pty) Ltd. (On completion)

Internship Programme Calendar:

Candidates and partnering institutions are advised to take note of the following dates

  • 25-30 May 2021: Submission of recommended internship candidate shortlists by partnering institutions
  • 31 May 2021: Selection of final candidates by Moody and Smith
  • 4 June 2021: Briefing of Final Interns
  • 14 June 2021: Induction and Rules
  • 15 June 2021: Intern Official Start Date

Institution Requirements:

Preference will be given to current students or graduates of Moody and Smith Internship partnering institutions.  In order to be considered as an internship partner, an institution must meet the following requirements:

  • Have our Internship programmes listed on the partnering institution’s website.
  • Have our Internship programmes listed as part of the institution’s scholarship programmes.

Intern Recruitment and Selection

Recruitment and Selection of interns will be done according to internship job descriptions outlined in Annexure A.  Partnering institutions looking to recommend interns are required to submit their shortlists of candidates to Moody and Smith (Pty) Ltd. via email to interns@moodyandsmith.com no later than 4th June 2021.

  1. Job Brief
    1. To perform as a high-growth Facebook Ad buyer
  2. Responsibilities
    1. Performance benchmarking through regular campaign planning, execution, optimization for value-based acquisitions.
    2. Budget pacing and optimization throughout campaign lifecycles
  • Create and advise on acquisition processes and workflow improvements.
  1. Leverage analytics tools to review traffic performance and provide on-going insights on optimizations through Analytical Attribution reporting.
  2. Identify opportunities in the paid media practices that enhance monetary growth and cutting-edges.

  2. 1+ years of Digital Marketing Experience
  3. Intermediate understanding of Facebook Ads Manager KPI’s and is performance-driven
  • Facebook Blueprint Certification is a plus but not required

    1. Video Editor #1 (Main Editor)
      1. Job Brief
        1. We are looking for a talented Video Editing students or graduates to assemble recorded footage into a finished project that matches programme managers objective and is suitable for broadcasting. Ultimately, as a Film and Video Editor, you should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story.
    1. Responsibilities
      1. The main purpose is to re-purpose and re-create current content to suit YouTube platform.
      2. Manipulate and edit film/video pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience.
    • Take a brief to grasp production team’s needs and specifications.
    1. Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.
    2. Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film
      1. Reduce current footage in a way that is easily consumable.
    3. Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
    • Create rough and final cuts
    • Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
    1. Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process
    1. Requirements
      1. MUST HAVE THEIR OWN LAPTOP

    • Preparing mockups and presenting to project team before deciding on a final design/concept.
    1. Editing proofs to project team’s specifications and getting signoff/approval before finalising artwork.
    2. Working and collaborating with art directorscopywriters, photographers and other designers.
    3. Adapting and rolling out approved concepts to YouTube Channel.
    • Adhering to the project team’s brand identity and guidelines.
    • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders about progress of projects and any issues that may arise.
    1. Working with external departments to extend concept and visuals to other internal and external marketing-related material.
    2. Making sure artwork is correct and supplied in the right format/sizes/colour codes before being sent for production.
    3. Work on multiple briefs at the same time.

    3. Be a skilled user of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshopand InDesign.
    • Mindful of the project team’s needs and the time and costs associated with what you will be delivering.
    • Have an active interest in art/designand passionate about the work you deliver.
    1. SEO Assistant
      1. Job Brief

      2. Responsibilities
        1. Other duties include implementing and maintaining title and meta tags, URL redirects and 404 errors; analyzing competitors’ web presence; monitoring Google Search Console and similar webmaster tools; identifying link-building opportunities; and negotiating contracts with agencies and vendors.
        2. Some also work closely with members of marketing and creative teams to develop new initiatives and update or manage social media accounts to increase user engagement.
    • SEO is an integral part of search engine marketing (SEM). Knowledge of SEM is essential to SEO specialists of course, but it’s also beneficial to anyone from marketers to freelance writers.
